South Alabama Speedway

Well we officially kicked off this years race season last night! Rusty had an amazing race staying in 3rd place the entire race. We came home with a green trophy, an intact car and an awesome start to the season. Third place in the race means 3rd place in points right now. He can only move up from here and move up I hope he does, I'd like to see some of those 1st and 2nd place trophies too this season!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Easter!

Long Time!!

Okay so I know it has been a while since I have been on here and I apologize!! We will chalk it up to laziness and forgetfulness. The holidays were great for us and I hope they were just as wonderful for all of you. I just recently celebrated my 31st birthday, and it feels no different then my 29th or 30th. We are greatful to be in good health for the time being, so all is well in the Locklar household.

We are anxiously awaiting race season which begins March 7th with the infamous Rattler Weekend. Rusty is making some changes to the car, beating out the dents, repainting, etc. Last year the car was orange and black, this year it will be all black. He somehow acquired a front bumper belonging to a 2009 Nissan Sentra and announced he would be using it for his race car. Come on, a 2009 Nissan Sentra bumper on a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo? I had to eat my words, it looks great!

I am excited about this season, we found out their are some driver changes I am anxious to see for myself. Folks moving up and out of the class so hopefully Rusty will have a better season. Not that he really had a bad season last year, hey 5th place from 8th is pretty good if you ask me! So I will begin keeping up with the blog better, posting pictures and updating sooner!

Stick with me and I'll keep you posted on life with the Locklar's!!

Our Vacation 2009

Our vacation is over and we are all sad it was hard to go back to work after all the fun we had. Gatlinburg was beautiful all the leaves were changing and the temperature was just right, warm during the day and chilly at night. Our first night at the resort while standing on the porch we got to see a black bear walking across the back yard. That was a wild experience I've never seen one in it's natural habitat, I'm glad though we were on the second floor. Every night we would see 2 or 3 skunks wondering around the back yard looking for food. I never realized how big skunks actually are.
Crystal had her first Hard Rock Cafe experience and loved it! I love the food at Hard Rock! We visited Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, the Knoxville Zoo and at the end of the week we drove to Chattanooga where we went through Ruby Falls. If you have never been to Ruby Falls it is beautiful, it was our first time to visit and I have never seen anything like it.
I took nearly 300 pictures, but don't worry I'm not going to post all of them. It was hard though to choose which ones to show you because they were all so good. Crystal said it best the other day, "we captured lots of memories" each picture took us right back to the moment it happened.

It's time to go on vacation!!!

Well folks the time has finally come...VACATION!!! By 8am tomorrow Kyle, Crystal, Hannah, Rusty and myself will be burning up the road to Pigeon Forge, TN, we are so excited! This vacation is definitely a well needed one. We have lots of brochures for things to do but really we are just going to play it by ear, what ever strikes our fancy is what we will do that day. I will share a secret though, I'm looking forward to the zoo, the aquarium and gem mining! It may seem silly and juvenile but I enjoy those kinds of things! Well, again I must cut this short, but I will have lots of things to tell you all about when we get back. So check back with us in about a week!

Wow it's been a while!

I only have a moment so I wanted to jump on here and update everyone on what's been going on, what I don't post today I'll finish tomorrow hopefully! As many of you can tell it has been a while since I have posted anything on here. I do apologize for the long delay but it has been a very hectic past few weeks. Many of you already know the day after my last post (Sept 24Th) Rusty's grandmother past away unexpectedly, as heartbreaking and devastating as it was we know she is in a much better place. She has finally made it home to be with Grandpa and they are happy once again. So I have been helping Rusty's Mom and Aunt (Hey Aunt Barbara and Uncle Ed!!) as best I can with anything and everything around here which keeps me busy and I like to be busy. I am helping them sell Grandma's house and that has been an adventure, I'm learning there are some crazy folks in this world. Mom is going to help me hold an open house on Sunday the 25Th. I'm actually looking forward to it, I've never done anything like that before. Well, sorry to cut this short but I must fly the coop for now!

Weekend Review

Hey there everybody, I know it's been a few days! Sorry!! Friday we had date night with Kyle, Crystal and Hannah, dinner and bowling. That was a blast, if you like bowling you don't realize how much fun it is until you haven't done it in a while. We got a little silly and seemed to revert back to our younger years, I tell you there are only a handful of people that can really turn my giggle box upside down and Kyle and Crystal are two of them. We really enjoy every minute we spend with them, that's why we are looking forward to spending a week with them in November on our Tennessee vacation.
Saturday was race day, and everyone knows I really look forward to race day! The weather was looking a little iffy, but the rain held off for us. There were not a lot of classes running so therefore Rusty's class had a heat race on top of the feature race. Rusty placed 3rd in the heat race which in turn qualified him for a good position in the feature race. He raced in 2ND position for quite a few laps and I just knew he had it in the bag, but Lee came up from behind and Rusty fell back to 3rd. We are proud of Lee he is sitting in number 1 for the points this season. Well Rusty went on to finish the race in 3rd place, he got a nice orange trophy this go round. Aunt Barbara we wish you could have been there to see it and be in the pictures. We had so few classes the races were over by 9:30. We never get out of there that early!
Sunday was my cousins wedding day! It was a beautiful ceremony despite the rain that only lasted the length of the ceremony itself. It began raining when the bride walked out and stopped as soon as the ceremony was over, very strange, but it is what it is. I don't think I have ever seen my grandfather perform a ceremony that quickly, the harder it began to rain the faster he got. Good job Papa, you work well under pressure!!! I got lots of beautiful pictures which I know you will all want to see and I will post as quickly as I can. It was wonderful to see all of the family. The bride and bridesmaid dresses were GORGEOUS!! The groom and groomsman were very handsome as well!
Oh yeah and Auburn barely squeaked out a win, War Eagle!
That is the existent of my weekend! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend as well!
